It’s back to school season and you know what that means.  The leisurely summer break is over and now we’re back to early mornings and busy days.  This year will be even busier for me because my “baby” will be starting Pre-K, though I’m still not sure how that cute little thing managed to grow up so fast!   Now that school’s going to be back in session, there are a few things that all busy moms should consider having on hand to make the transition a lot easier.   I seriously don’t know if I could make it without these five essentials!

Coffee

Isn’t this pretty much every mom’s must have item, especially during back to school season?  I need it first thing in the morning to get myself going, especially if I stayed up too late enjoying that precious quiet time after the kids go to bed.  Between blogging and Netflix, it can be hard to get a good night’s sleep, especially when the school bus comes so early!  I need at least two cups of coffee before I start feeling like myself again.

Ponytail Holders

Who has time for themselves when you’re trying to get two kids ready for school.  I feel like I’m just repeating “hurry up, hurry up” all morning and my little snails still take their sweet time.  Fix my hair and put something nice?  Not when I have ponytail holders and yoga pants readily available.

A Planner

I don’t know how anybody survives without a planner.  Now that school is almost back in session, I’ll have to keep track of after school activities, carnivals, Open House, parent/teacher conferences and all the other things that come with having children in school.  This first week looks pretty easy but it won’t stay that way for long.  If I don’t want to miss delivering those treats for the class party, I’d better write it down.  If it’s not in my planner, it never happened.

You Tube

What on earth did parents do before YouTube?  Not only is it great for keeping your children entertained when you’re waiting at the doctor’s office, you can use it to teach your kids all kinds of stuff.  Need figure out your 3rd graders math problems?  Just go to YouTube.  Pretty soon my little Keira is going to have to learn to tie her shoes.  Since I’m totally incompetent when it comes to teaching my kids to tie shoelaces, I’m planning to leave it to the YouTube experts.

Tylenol

We’re also getting stocked up on as much Tylenol as possible!  Since this is Keira’s first year, she’s bound to catch every little bug that goes around.  Ashling’s had a little longer to build her tolerance but she’s probably not going to escape having a cold or fever at some point.  We’ve been using Children’s TYLENOL®  for years and it’s also the brand recommended by most pediatricians.  I hate it when my girls are sick but I feel better knowing that I have what I need to ease their aches and pains from the common the common cold, flu, sore throats, headaches or toothaches. Plus, they can choose from cherry or grape flavors and it doesn’t upset their little stomachs.

Of course, when the kids are sick, there’s a good chance that I’ll catch it too so we’ll need to keep plenty of Extra Strength TYLENOL® on hand.  We all know that mommys don’t have time to get sick!  Luckily,  Extra Strength TYLENOL® is clinically proven to provide strong, fast pain relief.  It works to temporarily relieve aches and pains from colds, backaches, toothaches, cramps and it reduces fever so I’m pretty much covered for anything.

I’m hoping that once we get back into a routine, I’ll find the time to work out again.  Since it’s been awhile, I’ve gotten out of shape and there’s a good chance that I’ll need something to give me strong, fast pain relief while my sore legs get used to lunges again.  I’ve got TYLENOL® 8HR Muscle Aches & Pain in my medicine cabinet because it’s the #1 doctor recommended brand of pain relief and lasts up to 8 hours.

When it was time for our back to school shopping, we went straight to Target.  Not only do they have all the pencils and notebooks we needed, we were also able to get stocked up on our Tylenol…I love one stop shopping, don’t you?

Do you agree with my list of back to school essentials?  What did I leave off my list that you can’t possible live without?
