Fullerton police are asking for the public’s help in solving recent copper wire thefts from Fullerton School District campuses that have cost the city “well over $30,000,” said Sgt. Jeff Stuart in a press release. The air conditioning units and surrounding copper wiring were targeted at Nicolas Junior High, Richman Elementary and Laguna Road Elementary during nighttime thefts, Stuart said. With district schools starting Aug. 27 and weather forecasts in the 80s and high 70s, authorities are concerned about the lack of air conditioning. The copper piping and wiring were also cut from the air conditioning unit at Hanhaum Presbyterian Church on Laurel Avenue on Aug. 12, Stuart said. Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to contact Detective Brent Rebert at (714) 738-6785. Other crime tips can be reported anonymously through Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS (847-6227) or www.occrimestoppers.org. Share|
