This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

I am blessed that neither I nor any of those I love have mobility issues. However as a US Army veteran, who utilizes the VA & is a member of the VFW & American Legion, I am acutely aware of how many veterans today are affected by mobility issues. Also as my parents age, I am aware that all it would take is an unfortunate fall and an issue could be right around the corner.

Have you ever stopped to think how different your life would be if you were in a wheelchair? I admit–before NMEDA (National Mobility Equipment Dealer’s Association) asked me to do this post I never really had. It was eye opening. Right now I can pretty much go anywhere I want. I don’t have to think about the width of doorways, the presence of steps, bathrooms that can be used without assistance. I live in Upstate New York, where we have a lot of old buildings–heck my own home was built in 1890. Narrow doorways, differing floor levels requiring a step up or down, and a distinct lack of ramps is quite common. Even getting in and out of a car would be something that suddenly would require assistance.

I’m an independent type of gal. I don’t like asking for help or “bothering” folks. Needing help to get around would be a tough pill to swallow. I can see why sometimes folks would just rather stay at home that go through the effort and fuss. That’s why having a wheelchair accessible vehicles and mobility equipment is so important:

Wheelchair accessible vehicles and mobility equipment allow those with disabilities to take back their independence. The NMEDA difference starts with their Quality Assurance Program (NMEDA QAP). The program guarantees you a personal Accredited Dealer, so no matter your mobility challenge, you are receiving the expert attention you deserve. NMEDA mobility equipment dealers offer wheelchair ramps, hand controls and steering aids, transfer seats and seating solutions, wheelchair securement and tie downs, scooter lifts and special acceleration and braking solutions for adaptive vehicles.

If you have a loved one who is dealing with mobility issues and is looking for equipment or accessible videos, make sure you use a NMEDA member and get the benefit of thier QAP (Quality Assurance Program) certification!

When you work with a NMEDA QAP dealer you will get in-person evaluations of your needs and specialized training for the equipment. NMEDA mobility equipment dealers offer wheelchair ramps, hand controls and steering aids, transfer seats and seating solutions, wheelchair securement and tie downs, scooter lifts and special acceleration and braking solutions for adaptive vehicles.

To add to your peace of mind, when you purchase from NMEDA QAP dealer you not only have the ultimate safety and reliability offered in the vehicle modification industry, but you also receive 24 hour local emergency roadside services. If I ever have a family member who needs these services, I will use the NMEDA “Locate a Dealer” page and find my nearest store!
