Happy Crafterday!

Now that Christmas is over, it’s time to think about Thank You cards. Sure you could pop out to the store and buy some, but where is the fun in that?  Today I am featuring three fun DIY YouTube videos for Thank You cards.

The first one is from HGTV Handmade and shows you how to make some simple but striking cards with just black paper, white paper, some metallic Sharpies and a glue stick.  While an adult could make something fun, I particularly thought of teens when I saw this project:

Next is a simple card using decorative Washi tape and some baker’s twine.  While it used to be a bit difficult to find Washi tape, it’s now everywhere.  Look for it in the craft section of your favorite retailer, or in any craft store.  They come in TONS of colors but tend to be a pretty uniform width.  Of course you could substitute in a fun yarn or embroidery thread for the bakers twine, and hand letter in the “Thank You” instead of using a stamp:

Finally we have this sweet stitched card.  Although it’s shown with “hello” you can use whatever text you like, “Thank You”, “Thanks”, “Happy Birthday”. . . whatever.  Changing the color of the floss or thread and the color of the paper would completely change the feeling of the card.  You could also add simple shapes, like the outline of a Christmas tree, an ornament, or a candy cane.

So get those Thank You cards made, write them out and get them in the mail!  Happy Crafting to you all!

Note:  To make it easier on the kiddos you may want to go ahead and address and stamp the envelopes for the ahead of time–I find when I do that they are much more likely to actually get mailed.
