:: FREE Lake Grapevine Fireworks Show & Summer
…Blast Family Event at the Gaylord Texan
…Friday, August 30, 2013 (Last Weekend!)



Friday nights over Grapevine Lake will sparkle with spectacular fireworks this evening ~ a fun end of summer celebration! If you want to add some extra sparkle to your family evening, plan to view the fireworks from the Gaylord Texan Resort parking garage roof ~ a great viewing platform.  They will have a music DJ, games for kids, giveaways, and food and beverages for purchase.

• 9:30PM ~ Fireworks over Lake Grapevine (weather permitting)

:: Bedford Blues & BBQ Labor Day Festival

Music lovers with an appetite for rich “blues” and mouth-watering barbecue will find the 2013 Bedford Blues & BBQ Festival a feast for the senses. This 3-day family friendly event returns this weekend with an entertaining lineup that features some of the biggest names in blues.

:: FREE Music Under the Stars Fall Concert Series
…at the Levitt Pavilion in Arlington

Join your family and friends for a weekend of FREE fall concerts at the Levitt Pavilion in Arlington – part of their fall series of free music and performing arts under the stars. Be sure to bring along a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the outdoor entertainment. Snacks or a picnic dinner, and beverages are allowed, but no glass containers, please.

This weekend’s line up includes local long-time favorite Brave Combo, NBC’s The Sing-Off! season 3 winners ~ Pentatonix, and legendary Ray Wylie Hubbard.

Fort Worth’s herd cowboys will present a fun and educational demonstration about the tools, equipment and techniques used during the cattle drive era of the late 1800′s at Fort Worth Cow Camp. Children and adults will have the opportunity for hands on, interactive experiences including roping sorting, saddling, cattle drive demonstrations, and more.

:: FREE Drawing Classes for Kids & Adults at The Modern
…Sunday, September 1, 2013

FREE Drawing From the Collection classes for kids:  This fun program for children, held on the first Sunday of each month, includes two sessions ~ one for ages 5 to 8 and the other is for ages 9 to 12. Each session is led by an artist who takes participants through informal drawing exercises that relate to works in the Modern’s galleries. Children under the age of six must be accompanied by an adult during the program. Bring a sketchbook and pencils. Attendance is limited and early arrival is encouraged. A sign-up sheet is located at the information desk.

FREE Drawing From the Collection class for adults:  Learn with local artists as they lead free, informal basic drawing classes in the Modern Art Museum galleries. This class is open to adults at all skill levels. Bring a sketchbook and pencils. Registration is not required, but a sign-in sheet is available at the information desk.

Hear classic western music come to life as Cowtown Opry members perform a free music exhibition on the steps of the Livestock Exchange building. This live family friendly music event will take place every Sunday and will feature a different theme each week ~ Western Gospel music will be featured on the 5th Sunday of the month.
