If you’ve ever worked at a retail store and restaurant, you know how important mystery shoppers are to these businesses. If your name turned up in a mystery shop, you probably cringed—or applauded, depending on how well you did. Now that you are ready to earn some extra money, think about doing some mystery shopping. I have done a little mystery shopping and it can be fun.
Mystery shopping companies will give you lists of shops in your area that you can do. You typically have to pick a specific day and time frame in which to do your shop. Sometimes, you’ll get fun mystery shops like kids’ clothing stores, bookstores, and restaurants. Other times, you’ll have to shop tire stores, cell phone companies, and repair centers.
To get started, look for a reputable list of mystery shopping companies. You shouldn’t have to pay for a list of companies. When you shop, you’ll either get paid a fee for the service you did or you’ll get to buy something and be reimbursed for your purchase. If they are desperate to get shops done in your area, they may pay you a bonus for completing a shop correctly and on time. In many cases, you can take your children with you to a mystery shop, so it really just fits right into your schedule.
Note: you should NEVER have to pay to sign up to be a mystery shopping, if a company is asking you to pay, DON”T, they are probably a scam.
