This week’s favorites are all about beauty, because I have been feeling like spring cleaning my beauty routine! When the seasons change it makes me feel like I need to re-evaluate what I am doing with my life in general. I find that a great place to start is in the beauty department, because when I am on track with how I feel physically, then it helps me get focused in other areas of my life. I think most women feel this way. For example, I never get massages, facials, etc., because like most moms, I feel bad spending the money on myself and not my family. BUT for Mother’s Day my husband booked me a massage, and I realized how refreshed and rejuvenated I felt afterwards. If we all took the time to step away and make time for ourselves, it can make us happier and more sane! After the massage I was talking to the masseuse, and she explained how she could feel the toxins in my body and that my muscles were dehydrated. WHAT?!? She also could tell how much tension and stress I was feeling. Now, I don’t consider myself a really stressed out person, but since I have been so busy lately (who isn’t?), I haven’t made any time for myself…I haven’t even been doing yoga, which is what normally keeps me sane, and I can tell that I have been carrying stress in my body. I also have been drinking more coffee than water it seems, so taking this step away from the every day, and spending a moment to think of myself made me realize that I have been neglecting my own needs…like water! Like all other busy moms know, it can be hard to make time for yourself, but I am going into this week feeling inspired to start fresh, and spend some effort on myself as well as my work, and family!
Soooo I want to share with you some of the things that I am loving right now to inspire you to do something for yourself.
Weekly Favorites: The Beauty Department
T3 Interchangeable Curling Wand– I am in LOVE with this curling iron. It was a present from my mom, because all of my curling irons have died. I bought one last year around this time, and it already stopped working. I used to work as a hair stylist, and I would use curling irons all day every day, and it took a long time for them to die, but I bought a “Hot Tools” last year and have only been using it on myself once a day, or every other day, and it didn’t even last a year! This T3 is more expensive, but it is really cool because you get more bang for your buck! It comes with interchangeable wands, so you can get a bunch of different looks with just one iron. I always have used regular curling irons instead of wands, but since I have started using this one, I see a difference in the curl. The T3 creates really pretty, strong curls that a regular curling iron can’t do. It also allows you to get that “beachy” look that we all want since you don’t curl the ends of your hair. The quality of this iron in amazing! If you are in the market for an iron, I highly recommend this one.
Born This Way Foundation– Finding the perfect foundation is a never-ending battle. I have been using this one by Too Faced for awhile now. It makes your skin appear even, and doesn’t seem to make my skin too matte or too shinny.
Kai Body Butter– Kai will always remind me of Hawaii when I tried the product out for the first time. I was on a trip there, and became obsessed with this line. Now you can get it anywhere, including Amazon!
Kai Body Glow– My new Kai obsession! I am trying really really hard to keep my skin hydrated. I love the Kai lotion, but the body glow leaves your skin looking fresh and shinny. You can use them both!
Faux Lashes– I started wearing lashes thanks to the make-up squad on the set of Hallmark’s Home and Family show. I am lucky enough to have them do my make-up when I come to set, and one of my favorite parts is getting the lashes put on. Once you wear false lashes, there is no going back! Now whenever I film I always want to wear them. Sephora makes really great lashes that look full and real! They aren’t cheap, but you should be able to get a couple uses out of them.
Origins Modern Friction Nature’s Gentle Dermabrasion; I’m also trying to take better care of my skin (who isn’t?), and my dermatologist always talks to me about exfoliating, and removing the dead skin. Sounds sexy right? I love this body scrub by Origins. It is natural and has a good mix of rough/gentle.
Kerastase Ciment Thermique– I am a huge advocate for protecting your hair. When I used to do hair, I always preached to clients that you have to take care of your hair like you do your skin. Not using a thermal protectant is like going into the sun without sunscreen. Ciment Thermique is a thermal protectant, but it also helps to repair broken hair. This is great for all hair-types, especially blondes!
