Hi everyone!

My name is Courtney and I blog over at French Country Cottage .

I am so thrilled to be over here visiting Pamela and her beautiful blog today

sharing a little bit about how I found my style.

Pamela sent over a couple questions for me  to answer - so here goes

1- My decorating style is?

Well, I am a mix for sure.

I never seem to be able to fit into any one category.

My first love is French Country style, but when we bought our 1940's cottage

I found that I loved the simple charming cottage style decor as well.

But then there is my shabby romantic side- lots of florals and ticking stripes and bouquets.

I am definitely a mix- but mostly

a little French Country and Cottage with some Shabby and Romantic mixed in

if I had to sum it all up ;)

2- How did you "find" your decorating style?

I don't really remember how I found that very first spark of  my style

As far back as I can remember I have loved french style of Charles Faudree

and drooled over the furniture, the patterns and colors and details.

Then when I first saw a Rachel Ashwell design with her casual, softly elegant look

I loved so much about that too

There are other designers whose rooms and style I love as well

and sometimes it's not a whole look I love-

maybe it's just one thing I love about that style that I take away

So I think- maybe I found my style after falling in love with a few things French Country

pairing it with some of the light and bright and weathered shabby

and adding a bit of french cottage romance to kind of

blend them all together created a mish-mash that felt like I had found what fit me best

It's truly a mix that makes me happiest

set with old silver & vintage china

3- What has been your most treasured find for your home?

I have so many finds that I treasure in my home it is hard to choose just one.

But I would say that it might be my buffet deux corps in the living room.

It was one of those finds that truly, absolutely was meant to be.

I don't have any pieces in my home that are nearly as old or that have as rich

a patina that this has. It is absolutely one of my most treasured pieces.

4- What tips do you have for creating a beautiful home?

Number one

Decorate with things that make you happy.

When you walk into a room in your home and feel happy

and love what you see- even if it's not on trend or it's too white or it's too colorful, etc.

Doesn't matter.

If it makes you happy- it's perfect.

Number two

 Bring in fresh flowers

Fresh flowers to me are like the icing on the cake in a room

A bouquet of garden clippings, market flowers or even herbs -what every you love

bring such charm and really make the room feel finished.

Number three

 Add a little bling

The dining room recently got a little more bling with double chandeliers

Yes, I am pretty big on bling.

I just love the romantic elegant feeling that chandeliers bring to even

 the most ordinary space

They are a definite favorite element to add to a room for me.
