Best answer:

Answer by Ryu K
Dragonball Z: Burst Limit

Dragonball Raging Blast

DBZ:BL

Pros

-Killer Graphics
-Plays like the Budikai3
-Fun is a 7.5/10

Cons
-Only goes to Cell Saga
-Limited Characters
-Online is, lags

DB:RB

Pros
-Open like Tenkaiechi 3

Cons
-Graphics are nothing special
-Controlls suck
-Only goes to cell Saga
-Transformations are wack
-Fighting is dumb

I played both. Owned BL rented RB. I love DBZ with everything I have. I’ve been watching it over 12 years so I know my DBZ. BL is okay, not the greatest but it’s fun for a while. RB I was very disapointed in and don’t recomend that one at all. Go on Youtube and take a look. You’ll see. Tenkaichi 3 is the best DBZ I’ve played yet.

Has potential, but falls short, January 28, 2014

I'm probably not alone when I say every DBZ game that comes out is compared to Budakai 3 and Tenchaichi 3. This game is nothing like the two and that is not a good thing. I gave the game a 4 star rating because I'm a huge DBZ fan and I can't bring myself to give it a lower rating. First off, the game is aimed toward online game play. Offline only gives you the option for single player. No split screen play which is a huge mistake by the creators. You can't even make matches in single player. You have to do the missions that they give you and choose the characters you would like to attempt it with. For example, you are going to fight Vegeta. You can choose Goku, Krillin, Gohan, Tien, Yamcha, or Piccolo. It doesn't make sense considering Tien, Yamcha, and Piccolo should of been killed by Nappa, but you need to choose 4 characters for the fight. You can even just use one character 4 times which is kind of strange. The combo system isn't good either. You get the ability to move around freely, but the camera can get annoying. I've done a couple Great Ape battles which are a huge improvement from the last game (Ultimate Tenchaichi) that was all button combo's. This game has done away with all the button mashing and combinations which I am very happy about.

I won't comment on the online mode because I really haven't played it yet. I'm sure other reviews will cover it, but I'm sure it will be better then the offline mode.

Overall the game to me is fun, but I really wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for another Tenchaichi 3 type game. I will never understand why the creators of these DBZ games don't listen to the fans. I guarantee if they do and make a game with Tenchaichi mechanics, Ultimate Tenchaichi cinematic blasts, and use the roster list from Tenchaichi 3 and throw in characters introduced in raging blast 2 and this game (Battle of Z), they will make more money then they did off any other game in the series. Oh, and no button combination stuff. Of course in my honest opinion, I don't think they will ever make the perfect fan based DBZ game because after that it's over. They wanna keep milking the cow so to speak.

A depressing tale of lost potential, February 4, 2014

Oh how I've waited for this game! Even before it's announcement I had been dreaming of such a title. Dashing about on the ground and gliding around in the sky through a spacious landscape doing battle with my allies against a small army of enemies or one particularly devastating foe. Complete with destructible environments, cast and missions faithful to the story line, and an all around enchanting levels with an impressive artistic vision. Then one day the trailer for this game arrived; I was entranced.

How mistaken I was.

To be fair, let's start with what this game does right. When the game actually plays in a sensible way, it is rather entertaining. AI usually target one another which let's you feel in control of the fight. Occasionally there is an enemy hop, and sure, you can take the less noble route and gang up on a single opponent with your allies. Seeing these battles go according to plan is a thing of beauty[1]. But that's only assuming that it goes according to plan[2]...

[1] Speaking of beauty, the artistic vision of this game is brilliant. There are a few hiccups here and there both with the visuals and audio, but they can be forgiven as they are minor as well as few. The characters are vibrant, and the environment truly is something to behold. The game, from a visual stand point, looks exquisite. I've already stated as such numerous times, but each mention is necessary. The game genuinely looks top-notch.

[2] Speaking of things not going according to plan, let's discuss the complete chaos that ensues at the drop of a hat that is completely beyond your control. Towards the mid to later sections of the game, no matter how strong you make your character and your team, no matter your preparations, it is almost guaranteed to get launched in to an unpredictable, unstoppable, and ultimately unfair onslaught by the enemy that if your lucky will only destroy your momentum along with half of your life. Things will be going swimmingly when out of nowhere all the AI decides without any provocation on your part to drop what they are doing and obliterate you. It could happen at the start of the match robbing you of one of your very valuable retries, or just at the end of the mission after you've sunk in 15 minutes of fighting the game itself to let you play it[3]. If their goal was to recreate the hectic emotion that must arise in each of the Z-Warriors from the show during a crucial encounter, they have certainly succeeded. The only issue is that the result is that of an largely frustrating and incredibly irritating game.

[3] In addition to the enemies on screen that you must defeat, there is another lurking in the background that you must fight against. That enemy is the game itself. The controls of the game are simplistic to the point of being dull during the easier matches. There is a single button for melee, another for ki blasts, the other two dedicated to flight, with two shoulder buttons. The MVP control has to be the L1 trigger, as that is your dodge, block, and combination technique button. Using L1 with your melee or ki allows you to use a slightly stronger version of those two abilities. The back shoulder buttons allow you to use special moves that are largely useless in all honesty. Simple, no? Easy to master, but is a fact that the AI has learned how to use it better. Most late game bosses have pinpoint accuracy with their guarding and dodging to the point where you can only damage them if you close your eyes and button mash, or let your allies do the work and swoop in. And you had better hope those bosses don't have allies, because then you have to utilize the targeting feature.
The R1 trigger. That is the targeting button. What a tragedy. There is no rhyme or reason to who you lock on to. You can toggle through enemies by flicking the right stick, but good luck locking on the enemy right next to you wailing on you[4], as the game would rather you fight that other guy way on the other side of the map minding his/her own business.

[4] This one will be short, I promise. You've played a Dragon Ball Z game before I imagine, so I don't even need to explain the unbreakable and unblock-able combos the enemies can lock you in to. Now imagine you have 3 or 4 enemies simultaneously homing in on you all attempting to lock you in to these.

This game. The trailers made it so beautiful. On paper it is great, and it certainly has it's moments where it is, dare I say, fun. Perhaps it's because I've just spent the last 4 hours getting my rear handed to me on the same two missions doing everything I can to succeed (going back and leveling characters, grinding for items, and learning characters), but this game has left a sour taste in my mouth. Let's also not forget the DLC characters that unless you purchased the game at Best Buy you wont be able to access for less than $90 on eBay, for the...

One of the best DBZ fighters around, but not perfect., February 27, 2014

I'll start by saying that this game is an improvement from past iterations. It offers a lot in the way of characters(TONS OF CHARACTERS!), and open-world spaces.
The real meat n' potatoes of the game comes from the multi-player. 4-on-4 online battles, or 4 player co-op battles highlight this experience, and it's really really fun, especially when combos and special moves come together for the ultimate synchronization.

The reason this game gets 4 stars is due to the dodgy A.I. It doesn't really add much, nor does it make it fun to lose 10 times in a row because the A.I. doesn't want to heal or resuscitate your character, no matter how much you level them.
This game is great when you have 4 people (HUMANS!) playing at one time, but by yourself, it's a chore. Overall, it's a decent game, but it is flawed to some extent. I do recommend it to fans of the show.
