The city of Frisco is celebrating its 112th birthday this week. According to historian and former mayor Bob Warren, land owned by a subsidary of the St. Louis-San Francisco Railroad was subdivided into lots and sold to potential settlers at an auction on Feb. 13 and 14, 1902. The settlement was first called Emerson but was changed to Frisco City in 1904 and later shortened to Frisco. To celebrate the city’s birthday, the Heritage Association of Frisco will have free cake at its monthly open house of historic buildings from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Dallas Christian College Choir will perform. There will also be blacksmith demonstrations. The Heritage Center is east of Frisco city hall on Page Street.

A new data center is being proposed in Frisco that would anchor the city’s new high-tech corridor. Patronus Data Centers is proposing to cluster four buildings just north of Main Street between the Dallas North Tollway and Legacy Drive. If approved, this would be the city’s first data center. A public hearing will be held at tonight’s Planning and Zoning Commission meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Frisco city hall.
