IKEA in Frisco has added three electric vehicle charging stations as part of a partnership with Car Charging Group Inc. Drivers can pull into a designated parking spot, tap their Blink charging card on the reader and plug in their charger. “We are thrilled at how these electric vehicle charging stations further the sustainability of IKEA Frisco, and now are available to the public,” Robby Wierman, manager at the store at State Highway 121 and the Dallas north Tollway in Frisco, said in a news release. The public is invited to join the Walk of Gratitude and help honor and welcome hundreds of families who will be in Frisco on Friday for Snowball Express, a nonprofit that helps the children of fallen military heroes. Snowball Express families will arrive at 8:30 a.m. Friday at Main Event on Main Street and Dallas Parkway in Frisco for three hours of free fun. They will arrive in a motorcade escorted by the Patriot Guard Riders, police and local fire departments. The public is invited to arrive by 8 a.m. They can make a sign, bring an American flag and show these children and families that the sacrifice of their fallen hero is not forgotten. Also included in the welcoming crowd will be the Rotary Club of Frisco, the Wakeland High School Band and Frisco High School cheerleaders. Those joining for the Walk of Gratitude are advised to enter Main Event from its Dallas Parkway entrance rather than its Main Street entrance. Click here to learn more.

Frisco will hold its annual tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday in Simpson Plaza in front of city hall. The Kids’ Holiday Store will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday inside the municipal center. Children ages 3 to 12 should enter through the front door. Shoppers will be helped on a first come, first served basis. These are the rescheduled events that were part of Merry Main Street, which got canceled because of bad weather.

The Frisco Heritage Center monthly open house will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. At 2 p.m. the Scoggins Middle School Band will perform. There will also be a strolling Santa. The blacksmith shop will be operational and docents will be in various buildings. Click here to learn more.

The first North Texas Open Kettlebell Competition will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Full Throttle Athletics, 15222 King Road in Frisco. Lifters will compete in flights throughout the day. Click here to learn more.

The Texas Legends will play the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at 7 p.m. Friday at Dr Pepper Arena. Friday is also Guns and Hoses Night to honor local police and firefighters who lost their lives while protecting others. Saturday’s game is at 7 p.m. against the Austin Toros at Dr Pepper Arena. Women on the Wall is hosting a call to action community meeting for Frisco ISD parents, grandparents and teachers to talk about “Merry Christmas is the Law, Texas.” The meeting is at 6 p.m. Thursday at Collin College Conference Center, 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco. Click here for details.
