Some 43.4 million Americans are predicted to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday this week.



Top 10 Restaurants located at or near LaGuardia Airport in New York.

For fliers, the busiest travel day is expected to be Sunday, December 1, with an estimated 2.56 million travelers, according to Airlines for America, an airline industry group.

The second busiest is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving with 2.42 million fliers. Those numbers compare to the estimated 1.87 million travelers on Saturday, November 23.

The revamped LGA food court features burgers by Pat LaFrieda, the butcher who supplies meat blends for Shake Shack, Minetta Tavern and other celebrated burger purveyors (Terminal D).

LaGuardia’s Delta Terminal may soon be giving JFK’s JetBlueTerminal some healthy competition for top airport dining. Porter House New York’s Michael Lomonaco recently opened Prime Tavern, which features prime dry-aged beef and the usual steakhouse accoutrements (Terminal D).

At the pre-security food court in the Central Terminal Building, F&W Best New Chef 1990 Todd English has an outpost of his Boston pizzeria Figs. It has a view of departing planes and a menu with sandwiches, salads and pizzas with toppings like fig and prosciutto (Central Terminal Building, between Concourses B & C).

This new addition to Terminal C was developed by star chef Andrew Carmellini. The menu includes salads, a burger, steaks, roasted chicken, fish entrees, and raw bar offerings. A brand new casual Mexican concept from chef Aarón Sánchez, of Fonda and Centrico. The menu includes tacos, tortas, burritos, and breakfast items all made with quality meat and vegetables. Delta brought in a star-studded lineup of New York City chefs to develop its culinary redesign of Terminal D, including Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson (Balthazar, Minetta Tavern, Pastis, and more), who designed a Provencal-inspired bistro. Uncle Jacks is just about 10 miles from LaGuardia Airport and it’s claim as “The Best Steakhouse in New York” is not too far off. Now given there are some dynamite steakhouses in the NY metro area Uncle Jacks is certainly a contender.

Uncle Jacks boasts several locations but the original was founded in the early 1930’s and was titled simply Jack’s. Their mantra is “Where superior quality and obsessive dedication to craft are the norm”. With an impressive wine menu and the finest USDA Prime Beef Uncle Jacks is a steakhouse not to be missed.

Located only three miles from LGA Trattoria L’incontro is the perfect place to stop in after a long flight, whether you just want to have a nice glass of wine at the wine bar or you are looking for some fine Italian dining.
