FriendsEAT: Tell us a little something about rour restaurant.
Chef Brian: I own Notorious Burgers with my wonderful wife, Julie Gruber and together we come up with some of the most unique well-favored menu items and are huge supporters of local craft breweries in San Diego. So we proudly distribute local craft beer along with our one-of-a-kind gourmet burgers, salads, sandwiches, meat and cheese boards and more. The restaurant has a fun mobster prohibition-themed environment that allows us to play up the names of our entrees like the “Notorious B.I.G.” burger and the “Pacino’s Pork” burger.
FE: Are there any Awards you have received? Any you’re particularly proud of?
Chef Brian: We recently won the 2016 Spectrum Award through City Beat News for excellence in customer satisfaction. That was huge for us because we are proud to be providing our customers with outstanding food and quality customer service.
FE: What is your restaurant philosophy? Is there something that everyone strives for with each action taken at your restaurant?

FE: What makes you stand out above the rest?
Chef Brian: What makes Notorious Burgers stand out above the rest is our passion and love for what we do. We have so much fun creating new menu items and making fun (and funny) food that brings a smile to people’s faces. We are huge fans of supporting local so we purvey only craft beer and work with a variety of local farms and vendors like O’ Briens Boulangerie, Carlsbad Farmer’s Market and Seaside Market and more to produce super fresh food.

FE: What is your most popular dish? Why do people love it?
Chef Brian: The “Bang Bang” Brussels with pork belly, thai chili, roasted peanuts and kung pao sauce. People love it because it’s such a different variation of traditional Brussel sprouts. Even if you don’t like Brussel sprouts, you’ll love this appetizer.
FE: Do you offer any deals such as happy hour specials, brunches, etc?
Chef Brian: We offer happy hour Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m.
