We are pleased to announce for the Month of March we will displaying all works from Margaret Hudson!

Margaret Hudson’s love of nature and art came together as she began creating with clay the birds and other animals native to her Central California home and the nearby Sierra Nevada.

Artist’s Statement

“My art springs from a very deep love of nature and the earth. It is simple and direct. I hope each flower speaks directly to you as it did to me, both in the garden and in its painting. I celebrate each blossom in its rich early morning color and in the joyous rhythm of its dancing petals.I celebrate it in its opening and full bloom and also in its fading and brokenness. It is the cycle of life — my life. It lifts me beyond myself into a oneness with all of life and the Eternal.”

Food will be available from local food truck, P & R Fusion. Come join us!

/‘ôltər / pieces II, paintings by Hazel Antaramian Hofman

Fig Tree Gallery artist member Hazel Antaramian Hofman opens her exhibition on March 5, 2015, in recognition of the 100-year commemoration of the Armenian genocide and its effects on the psyche of an entire people.

Antaramian’s work speaks to hope within the paradox of historical circumstance and reoccurring universal themes of life’s uncertainties and inequities. She depicts segmented aspects of the displaced “body,” fragmented geographically and culturally by trauma, politics, social disparities, idealism, and sentimentality.

The show runs from March 5 to March 29, 2015.  The Fig Tree Gallery is located at 644 Van Ness Blvd, Fresno, California 93721.  Gallery is open Friday through Sunday, 12 to 4 PM.

The Commons @ FPC welcomes local artist
Garey Charles Porter.

You’ll enjoy his beautiful wood monumental art. Here’s how Garey describes it:

“My art form, unique by using wood as my medium, with all its grains, textures, and natural feel, allows the viewer to touch the art piece. The sensation of touchable art can be appreciated with my works, if one wishes to do so. Blending history and art is what inspires and motivates my art pieces. Wood allows me to carve slabs much like the artists of the medieval monumental brass period, 600 years ago.”
