An Air Canada plane in Brussels
Air Canada announced that it took delivery of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner on Monday, as the aircraft completed its maiden voyage from Paine Field in Everett, Washington, to Toronto Pearson International Airport. The aircraft is the first of the carrier’s 37 787 planes on order, which are expected to be delivered through 2019.
Air Canada says it will use the new aircraft on its service between Toronto and Tel Aviv. In addition, the carrier plans to launch new service to Tokyo Haneda, which it will operate using the 787.
The aircraft is outfitted with the airline’s new international business-class cabin, which is configured with 20 seats. The plane also has a premium-economy cabin, which has 21 seats, as well as an economy-class cabin with 210 seats.
Air Canada is the first Canadian airline to operate the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The aircraft is 20% more fuel efficient than similar-sized planes in the carrier’s fleet, which Air Canada will replace with its new 787s.
