Delta aircraft at JFK
A web glitch gave flyers an additional holiday present on Thursday when Delta Air Lines offered flights at incredibly low prices. Some fares were under $5 and round-trip, transcontinental fares were $25, not including taxes and fees.
The fares, which Delta said were errors, are no longer available, but the Atlanta-based airline said it would honor tickets sold while the mistake fares were being offered.
The mistake fares started to appear mid morning and were reported by members of FlyerTalk, the world’s largest online travel community, at 10:35 a.m. EST.
Okazon69, a member of FlyerTalk, reported a $1.69 fare from Newark Liberty International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport, which totaled $23.84 with taxes and fees. A round-trip fare from Newark to San Francisco ended up costing one person $69.
