Delta and Virgin Atlantic aircraft at JFK
Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic Airways announced a new schedule for many of their joint-venture flights. The new schedule is slated to take effect on March 30, 2014.
In addition, the two airlines said that Delta will join Virgin at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 3 by relocating many of its flights from Terminal 4. This includes flights between London and New York, London and Boston, and London and Seattle. The change will allow Delta passengers to have access to Virgin’s Clubhouse lounge in Terminal 3. Virgin and Delta are already in the same terminal at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.
Delta, in cooperation with Virgin Atlantic, announced it is also adding a second daily flight between London Heathrow and Detroit Metropolitan Airport starting June 1. Delta’s previously-announced London-Seattle flights begin to operate on March 29.
Virgin is moving its 4 p.m. flight from London to Newark to a morning departure that will get passengers into Newark early enough to still attend meetings the same day. It is moving the departure time of the return flight up as well, to allow passengers to arrive in London for the start of the business day there.
Virgin also said it will change the timing of its Heathrow-Boston flight to depart two hours later in the afternoon, aligning it better with Delta’s Heathrow-Boston flight that leaves in the morning. Virgin will also move its evening departure to Boston by two hours as well.
The two airlines will continue offer departures from JFK every 30 minutes during the early evening and then hourly until 10:30 p.m., as well as two late afternoon and early evening departures from London Heathrow to JFK.
