Question by Jul: Will my new yoga mat smell like plastic forever?
I just got a new yoga mat and it has an awful, strong chemical/plastic smell, so bad that I could barely use it during the first class even though I had aired it out for 2 days prior. I washed the mat on the gentle cycle in the washing machine and it has been air drying on the clothes line outside since but the smell is still very strong! Will the smell weaken/disappear or am I doomed with this mat? Anyone had a similar experience? Next time I will definitely buy an eco-friendly mat as I hear they don’t have this smell, but for now I’d like to make the most of what I have, so any suggestions will be very appreciated! Thank you!

Well usually the plastic smell would go after you’ve used it for a while but looking at the amount of things you’ve done to it, it should have at least lost a bit of the awful stench. Trust me, I know how smelly plastic can get.

Picking a yoga mat is very important to me because I'm a Yoga Coach. With all the time I will be using it, I want to find the right one at a good price. I used Harbinger, Prosource & other Yoga Mat before throughout the years. I am looking for a new mat for myself and new clients, but don't have much to spend this month. This product I came across looks almost the same as other yoga mats I'ved used but has the lower price I was looking for so I gave it a try.
The yoga mat thickness (1/2") is very well-cushion. This is a high quality mat my client's knees & backs will appreciate. It's also slip-free, sturdy & durable. I loved that a carrying strap comes with the mat.

I almost ordered a $25 mat before I saw this one on Amazon and decided to give it a shot, despite my reservations about why it might be so cheap. Don't be fooled by the price, it is not cheaply made! It's actually very high quality material and easy to clean. It has a funny smell at first, but gone in a day. The cushion is great and works well on hardwood floors. Fast shipping! I was pleasantly surprised and highly recommend this mat!

This mat is squishy and more comfortable than most other mats, but does not stay in place on the floor when trying to do pilates/ yoga and is not convenient and not recommended.
