"East City Art presents its quarterly artist talk series "In the Artist's Words". The artist talk and presentation will begin at 6pm sharp at Weschler’s Auctioneers and Appraisers located at 909 E Street NW in downtown DC. In the third iteration of East City Art’s "In the Artist’s Words" series, Carolyn Toye will discuss her decade-long, serendipitous journey of photographing the urban landscape of her native Washington, DC. What happens when that which inspires you as an artist changes so radically, so completely that you no longer have a point of reference?"

The Garden as a Picture: Agnes Northrup's Tiffany Designs Clarice Smith Distinguished Lecture in American Art at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Chinatown
6:30pm - 8:00pm, tickets distributed in the G Street Lobby at 6:00pm
Free
Agnes Northrop was the only truly independent woman designer Louis Comfort Tiffany employed. In spite of her prominent role at the time, Northrup's significance has been long overshadowed by Tiffany and by other women in his employ. Join us for an evening exploring Northrop's pioneering work as a designer of windows in a male-dominated field. Alice Cooney Frelinghuysen, the Anthony W. and Lulu C. Wang Curator of American Decorative Arts at the The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, will build on her extensive study of the work of Louis Comfort Tiffany.
The Clarice Smith Distinguished Lectures in American Art highlight excellence and innovation in American art through evenings with an outstanding artist, critic, and scholar.
