Presented by the Arlington Cultural Affairs. Troker, headlinging the night's event, made waves in 2014 at both SXSW and WOMEX - becoming the first band in history to play two consecutive years at the West Holts Stage at the legendary Glastonbury Festival in England. Morphing from jazz to rock, Troker's groove is charged with an explosive energy that international magazine All About Jazz described as “noisy, chaotic, sprawling, messy, all together wonderful". Now they are performing atop D.C. Metro's tallest building to kickoff the 25th Anniversary of Rosslyn's Jazz Festival. Warming up for the fusion jazz/funk band is DJ G-Flux, an electronic, sample-based cumbia artist from Mexico City. For the past 10 years DJ G-Flux has been recording and performing right here in D.C.

The Art of African American Inventions features the art of patent drawings. These works are a part of the museum's collection of 600+ patent documents donated by author and former Primary Patent Examiner Patricia Carter Sluby. It’s a fun day for the entire family with activities taking place both outside on the grassy picnic area and inside the museum. Enjoy live music, food vendors, and art activities. Including GoGo musicians Junkyard Band, Broesler School Irish Step Dancers, Pan Lara Steel Drummers, Panamanian dance troupe Panama Danzas y Ritmos and civil war re-enactors from the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment B setting up camp on the grassy picnic area.  There is no need to register for this program. Just show up and have fun! Free transportation to the festival from the metro!

Light at Play comes to the Torpedo Factory Art Center for an afternoon celebration of art, music, dance, and light. Be sure to check out the Light at Play dance performance at 4:00pm. Jane Franklin Dance performs with a large radiance orb, a large geodesic globe that flashes and dances with color in response to music and motion, exploring geodesic geometry. You can also enjoy performances from the Francis C. Hammond Middle School Orchestra, The Alexandria Singers, The Dance Studio at Hollin Hall, cellist John Kaboff, and the St. Petersburg Duo, an ensemble of The Washington Balalaika Society.

On view through September 13, 2015, The Memory of Time explores the work of 26 contemporary artists who investigate the richness and complexity of photography’s relationship to time, memory, and history. For more than 20 years, photographer Deborah Luster has been engaged in an ongoing investigation of violence and its consequences. In this lecture held on the exhibition’s closing day, Luster will discuss the evolution of her work from One Big Self: Prisoners of Louisiana and Tooth for an Eye: A Chorography of Violence in Orleans Parish, as well as her current project at Louisiana’s Angola Prison. A book signing follows.

(La ciociara, Vittorio De Sica, 1960, 100 minutes) Adapted from a novel by Alberto Moravia, Two Women is based on the lives of actual Marocchinate.   Fleeing to her native South from Rome and the Allied bombing, Sophia Loren and her daughter Eleonora Brown find friendship with the local intellectual Jean-Paul Belmondo, but soon discover which is worse—the retreating Germans or the advancing Allies (Moroccan Goumiers). In a complex role originally meant for Anna Magnani, the twenty-six-year-old Loren became the first Oscar winner in a foreign-language film.
