Home Runs for Horton's Kids

"Horton’s Kids is throwing its annual “Home Runs for Horton’s Kids” fundraiser, an event to benefit children living in DC’s Ward 8. The event features on-field batting practice, opportunities to shag fly balls, take infield, and other entertainment. It also offers guests a chance to bat on the field or in the indoor batting cages at Nationals Park and mingle with Nationals mascot Screech and the Racing President Teddy. There will also be face painting, arts and crafts for children, and Microsoft Kinect for Xbox One kiosks."

A #teamchailatte Karaoke Benefit Fundraiser to support Frank Britton

Debbi from Kostume Karaoke and Jesse B from District Karaoke are teaming up to host a celebration of all things Frank! There will be no fee to sing and Frank asks that you just come out and be together. It's his desire to show his appreciation for all the love and support coming his way.
The man himself will be in the house. (Frank was attacked on Monday, May 26, 2014 as he was hailing a cab in downtown Silver Spring, MD after a performance at the Forum Theater.) There will still be drink specials! And yummy treats courtesy of Starbucks!

"Toxic Hot Seat" Film Screening and Q&A with Filmmakers

The Sustainable Furnishings Council will be hosting a screening of "Toxic Hot Seat,” an HBO documentary that follows a courageous group of firefighters and mothers, journalists and scientists, politicians and activists as they campaign to expose the devastating impact of toxic flame-retardants in everyday furniture. Guests will be joined by filmmakers James Redford and Kirby Walker for an audience Q&A about the film after the event.

SONOVA will present “Mozart Meets Metal: SONOVA Rocks Out!” This exciting concert will feature your favorite Rock ‘n’ Roll music from metal to classic rock and indie to pop, as well as two of Mozart’s most famous overtures. From his rhythms to his chord progressions, Mozart’s music from 225 years ago closely resembles today’s rock ‘n’ roll. This concert, SONOVA will be joined on stage by a rock band comprised of some of the areas finest musicians.

Marian creates lyrically-driven songs with complimentary arrangements on her classical guitar that are delicate yet full of depth.
