American idol, the singing reality competition show on Fox channel has emerged as blessing in disguise for talented singers. The winners’ trophy makes the struggle worth from audition till the final performance. American Idol season 1 premiered on 11 June 2002. This show was produced by 19 Entertainment and created by Simon Fuller and the show was distributed by FremantleMedia North America. Following the POP IDOL British music competition series, Simon Fuller has designed American Idol Which became the most popular singing talent hunt in the American television History. This show has completed 12 seasons as of now and preparing to release season 13 with big bang.
The motive of this talent hunt is finding the solo recording artist and to find the right candidate the citizens of America voted in and out contestants via phone, SMS & internet. In addition to that American Idol producers hire judge’s panel that criticize the performances and help contestants to enhance their skills. The best hosting makes any show demanding and American Idol host possess the quality. The hit of team Brian Dunkleman & Ryan Secreast hosted all the seasons.
Audition Process in Brief
It’s a long process to follow after categorizing the Contestants by their age eligibility, which goes fifteen to twenty-eight years old. Initially the age limit was fifteen to twenty-four till season 3 but after that it was raised to twenty-eight. Contestants should have citizenship of US and should not have commitment on any other show till Semi-finals.
The three initial stages are set for that. In the brief audition several contestants comes from different cities and very few got selected for preliminary round. The selected contestants sing before producers and most of them get eliminated. Rest of the contestant sing before judges and that is initials stage to be shown on television. Only 10-60 people go to Hollywood from various cities.
Contestants perform either individually or in groups till season ten and during it three eliminations take place. In first round contestants perform solo; in second round they sing in their groups together and in final round they perform individually on their choice with band. Contestants produce their original songs and lyrics as a part of task in rounds. After Hollywood and Las Vegas round only 20-36 contestants reach to semi-finals. Before semi-finals the eliminations are decided through judges’ panel but in Semi-finals the decision of elimination goes to the hand of audience where audience can vote their favorite contestant via SMS, call or Online poll. The contestants spilt into groups and it varies from one season to another. Judges present Wild Card round as golden opportunity for eliminated contestant in Semi-finals. Among 10-13 contestants are chosen as finalist.
The finals broadcast live in prime time by television studio CBS Television City in L.A. The finals lasts from eight to eleven weeks depends on Judge’s Decision. Final contestant worked with his mentor on weekly theme and performs it. Contestants eliminates one by one through audience votes. Only two strong contestants survive till the grand finale. The final two perform before millions of people and the winner gets the recording deal for six months with popular labels and reserves management deal with American idol affiliated 19 Management including many other lucrative deals and gifts.

The First Season stated on June 2002 with 121 selected contestants from auditions and 30 reached to semi-final round. The grand finale took place between Justin Guarini and Kelly Clarkson and eventually Kelly won the winner’s trophy. The panel of judges’ included Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul & Simon Cowell. The panel of same Judges continued till the season eight.

After huge success of season first the Season 2 started on January 2003. The grand finale took place between Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken and the trophy was given to Ruben. He was 134,000 votes ahead from his competitor.

American Idol season 3 was premiered on 19 January 2004. Fantasia Barrino and Diana DeGarmo reached to final and fantasia announced as winner.

American Idol season 4 was premiered on 18 January 2005. Carrie under wood was announced as winner and Bice was announced runner up.

American Idol season 5 premired on 17 January 2006. The finale took place between Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee and Taylor announced as winner.

American Idol season 6 premiered on 16 January 2007. The grand finale took place between Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis and Jordin was declared as winner.

American Idol season 7 premiered on 15 January 2008. The finale took place between David Cook and Archuleta and David was announced winner.
American idol Season 8
American Idol season 8 Premiered on 13 January 2009. The finals took place between Kris Allen and Adam Lmbert and the winner was Kris Allen. In this season along with Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul & Simon Cowell, Latin Grammy Award singer Kara DioGuardi joined the panel of judges from season eight till season ten.

In American Idol season 9 Paula Abdul left the show and Ellen DeGeneres, the Emmy Award winner host, replaced her and joined the show for season nine only.
American idol Season 10
American Idol Season 10 Premiered on 19 January 2011. The finals took place between Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery and eventually Scotty won the trophy. In the season tenth Simon cowell left the show due to commitment with another show and Ellen DeGeneres also left the show. Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler joined the panel to fill the place till next two seasons.
American idol Season 11
American Idol Season 11 premiered on 18 January 2012. The grand finale took place between Sanchez and Phillips and finally Phillip won the trophy and made record of 132 million votes.

American Idol Season 12 premiered on 16 January 2013. The grand finale took place between Candice Glover and Kree Harrison and at the end Glover announced as winner. In Season twelve the Judges panel added new judges Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Nicki Minai along with Randy Jackson.
American idol Season 13
American Idol season 13 will broadcast on 15 January 2014 on Fox Television Network. The auditions will start from 11 July 2013. The Judges panel will be unveiled soon as the host Ryan Seacrest stated. Only One judge Keith Urban has been finalized yet and sources are expecting Jennifer Lopez in Judges’ panel for season 13.
