The rapid growth in knowledge or oral diseases, the change in disease prevalence and distribution, and the continued improvement in world communication, make this a challenging time in modern dentistry. There is a clear need to move from a system of piecemeal dental treatment to one of oral health care as a whole. These and many other issues are dealt with in this book. This a book for all involved in dental care, be they providers or consumers.

Attitudes of Minnesota Nursing Home Administrators about Oral Health and Specific Oral Health Training Programs,
As the Baby-Boomer generation, the largest American population cohort ever, reaches old age, the demand for specialized healthcare will expand beyond the bounds of what is now available to treat them. One area of particular interest, is oral health. Many studies have shown that inadequate preventive care, maintenance, and treatment are provided to the elderly in long-term care facilities. This study assessed attitudes of nursing home administrators in Minnesota (MN) regarding oral health and specific training programs related to oral health. Identifying the attitudes of nursing home administrators will aid in developing an oral health training program to provide appropriate information and attain administrators' approval and support. Administrators of all licensed nursing homes in MN were asked to answer a survey about current and potential provision of oral healthcare in their facilities. Their responses were analyzed to determine what their preferences were and what factors had impact on their decisions concerning the delivery of oral healthcare in their domains.
