Proven Solutions for Improving Supply Chain Performance,
Proven Solutions for Improving Supply Chain Performance is a collection of about 175 descriptions of scientific management studies in the management of supply chains. Each one of the descriptions of the scientific studies is presented in readable and understandable form for individuals who probably have not had the statistical and scientific education and training to fully understand the underlying studies. The book is significantly different from the popular management literature, which is generally based on "armchair" theories that have little basis on fact, and seldom have been scientifically verified. Although the book is targeted for the supply chain manager/administrator, it can also be used as a supplementary reader in such courses as Operations Management, Service Systems Management, Manufacturing Management, Purchasing Management, and, of course, in Supply Chain Management courses.

Evolution of Supply Chain Management,Symbiosis of Adaptive Value Networks and ICT
In the last half of the twentieth century industry encountered a revolutionary change brought about by the harnessed power of seemingly ever-increasing capacity, speed and functionality of computers and microprocessors. This strength provided management and workers within industries with new capabilities for management, planning and control, design, quality assurance and customer support. Organized information flow became the mainstay of industrial companies. New tools and information technology systems emerged and evolved to enable companies to integrate the various departments (Design, Procurement, Manufacturing, Sales and Finance) within companies, particularly the lager ones, including international corporations. This was to give them a chance to meet new demands for product time to market, just in time supply of orders, and customer support. To the smaller company these changes were not so apparent. Neither the tools nor systems nor indeed their economic value seemed appropriate to them except for special cases. While all this was happening the structure of the larger companies began to disintegrate. Strong competitive pressures and globalization of the market place brought this about. Shedding unwanted competence and subcontracting it to others became common practice. Regional market pressures triggered companies to reorganize to create, produce, and distribute goods and services. Greater dependency on chains of supply from external companies became the norm. Medium and smaller sized companies began to gain some advantage and at the same time some were sucked into management and control systems governed by the larger companies.

The Relationship-Driven Supply Chain,Creating a Culture of Collaboration throughout the Chain
Collaboration in supply chains means managing the chain beyond traditional or transactional methods. It involves rethinking the way your business is managed, both internally and externally, and the ways in which employees and partners relate to each other. Stuart Emmett and Barry Crocker's book explains how a relationship-based approach to supply chain management can transform business; how to organise your business internally for effective supply chain relationships and how to transform your external supply chain using relationship marketing, customer relationship management and supply chain partnerships. One of the key distinguishing characteristics of a high performing supply chain is the presence of strategic trust. With strategic trust, the parties have access to each other's strategic plans; relevant cost information and forecasts are shared; risks and rewards are addressed openly. This book explains how to embed a culture of inter-company trust and to realise the benefits of improved supply chain relationships.

Privatization and Supply Chain Management,On the Effective Alignment of Purchasing and Supply after Privatization
This book brings together two of the 'hottest issues' in current management thinking: the impact of privatization on the performance and behaviour of the companies involved, and the increasingly important role of purchasing and supplier relationships. The notion that efficiency is improved with privatization is critically examined. The authors examine whether privatized organizations have recognized the importance of the procurement role and developed both their procurement functions and supplier relationships so as to enhance competitiveness. Grounded in economic theory, and providing rich case study material, this volume makes a major contribution to an increasingly important area. It will be of interest to students and researchers in economics, business and management studies.

Supply Chain Risk,A Handbook of Assessment, Management, and Performance
Risk is of fundamental importance in this era of the global economy. Supply chains must into account the uncertainty of demand. Moreover, the risk of uncertain demand can cut two ways: (1) there is the risk that unexpected demand will not be met on time, and the reverse problem (2) the risk that demand is over estimated and excessive inventory costs are incurred. There are other risks in unreliable vendors, delayed shipments, natural disasters, etc. In short, there are a host of strategic, tactical and operational risks to business supply chains. SUPPLY CHAIN RISK: A Handbook of Assessment, Management, and Performance will focus on how to assess, evaluate, and control these various risks.

Lean Performance ERP Project Management,Implementing the Virtual Supply Chain
Until now, Lean thinking has been narrowly focused on physical processes, causing serious shortcomings and failures in obtaining Lean benefits. Lean Performance ERP Project Management integrates strategy, people, process, and information technology into a project management methodology that applies Lean thinking to all processes. It uses Lean principles, tools, and practices to improve and then continuously improve management decision processes, information/support processes, and their linkages to Lean physical processes. It allows you to start with your existing process, and then develop process performance improvements and measurements. If you're tired of information technology project failures or poor results, and all the "after project" rework, Lean Performance ERP Project Management will be a breath of fresh air. It helps you achieve system integration and provides an on-going Continuous Improvement tool after implementation. By showing you how to develop and utilize process workflow standards, it provides you with a road map to successful Lean Transformation. Lean Performance is the product of the trial and error project applications of many business process and performance improvement methodologies, based on the author's considerable practical management and consulting experience. When you recognize the strength of the business, i.e. people and processes, you can enhance your company culture of continuous improvement.

Purchasing and Supply Chain Management,A Sustainability Perspective
"Supply chain management is a cross-functional business concept that includes, for example, logistics and operations management. In many organizations purchasing is now part of the supply chain management function. In addition, the age of the "triple bottom line" is upon us: the issue of sustainability seems certain to gain great momentum and a company is no more sustainable than the suppliers it sources from which means that a wealth of research is emerging that connects sustainability and purchasing and supply chain management. The textbook provides a comprehensive student guide to the field of Purchasing and Supply Chain Management and the links with environmental sustainability. Although there are a number of supply chain management textbooks available, those which cover sustainability at all do so with "bolt-on" chapters - an approach which fails to integrate the key issues. Aimed at the advanced undergraduate (i.e. year 2 or 3), Masters/MSc, or MBA student, this book integrates theory with practice while drawing on relevant industry case studies"--
