Two Franklin College seniors have been awarded the inaugural positions in the Franklin College Law Scholars program at the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

The two Franklin College students admitted into the program beginning fall of 2015 include:

Tess Anglin, daughter of Mr. Robert Pettit and Ms. Tamarin Anglin, both of Fort Wayne.

Hayley Kemp, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Kemp, of Avon.

Franklin College and the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law announced a partnership earlier this year creating the Franklin College Law Scholar program for students and/or alumni of Franklin College. The program allows two students and/or alumni, nominated annually by the college, to be eligible for a minimum of a half-tuition scholarship to the IU McKinney School of Law.

On top of the tuition scholarship, recipients receive a designation as a program fellow in the student’s chosen area of study, paid employment as a research assistant and guaranteed experiential learning opportunities.

The two students nominated this year were selected due to their indicators for future success. These indicators included but were not limited to: prior academic performance; letters of recommendation; professional, volunteer and leadership experience; and an area of interest within the legal field.

Assistant Professor of Political Science and the Elmon and Lucile Williams Chair in Law and Public Service, Alli Fetter-Harrott, J.D., Ph.D., is excited to see these two students move on to law school.

“I’m thrilled to see our Franklin College Law Scholars taking the next step to law school,” Fetter-Harrott said. “Each of them has shown significant commitment to their dream of law school.  Both Hayley and Tess have so much potential to contribute to the legal profession.  They’re ready for law school.  I really can’t wait to see what wonderful paths their careers will take.”

Franklin College will again nominate two more students and/or alumni in fall 2015 for admission into the law school’s fall 2016 entering class.
