Jeff Greenwald has been one of the Bay Area’s best-known travel journalist for more than 30 years. His Wheel-spinning solo show based on his many adventures—Strange Travel Suggestions—premiered at The Marsh in 2003, and still plays for sold-out houses. Jeff never knows which of his more than 50 tales he is going to tell on any given evening. For this special night at Stage Werx he’s narrowed the map to 10 of his favorites, including several heard on NPR’s Snap Judgment. With the help of the Stage Werx audience, he’ll choose at least three of these wild tales for an intimate evening of unforgettable storytelling.

“The last time Jeff Greenwald’s roulette wheel of a one-man show had a run at The Marsh, I went and laughed my head off. The Marsh is a small place, so Greenwald obligingly handed my head back to me.” —Jon Carroll, San Francisco Chronicle

“A sublime 90-minute night of improvised storytelling” — Nathaniel Eaton, SF Weekly

“Funny, keen-eyed, utterly engaging… Wherever it leads, it adds up to quite a trip.” — San Francisco Bay Guardian

“Looking for global intrigue, great laughs, and high drama? Go traveling with Jeff Greenwald and you’ll find it all on one stage.” — Wes “Scoop” Nisker

Oakland-based Jeff Greenwald is the author of six popular travel books, including Shopping for Buddhas, The Size of the World and Snake Lake. He created the Internet’s first travel blog in 1994. Jeff’s work is widely anthologized, and his articles and essays have appeared in The New York Times, National Geographic Adventure, Wired, Afar, and many other print and online publications.
