Please join us for the release of new print editions by artists Ala Ebtekar and Bruno Fazzolari. Their work will be exhibitied along with Robert Hardgrave’s solo exhibition, “Blues Blues, Slower than my Heart Beat”. The always amazing DJ Cliff Hengst will be spinning records. Opening reception is July 8th, 6pm – 9pm.
Ala Ebtekar is widely known for his work in painting, drawing, and installation. His work explores the juncture between history and myth, melding together Persian mythology, science, philosophy, and pop culture. Gallery 16 Editions and Ala worked for two years to create two distinct but interconnected print editions. The concept was to use two books important to Ebtekar’s work as the literal physical support for each print. The two books are the Divan-e-Hafez, Persian poet Hafez’s revered collection of works, first published in 1680 and Works of Ralph Waldo Emerson, Riverside Edition, published in 1889. We’re proud to announce that these prints were recently added to the collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art.
Bruno Fazzolari is a San Francisco based artist. We are pleased to announce the release of four new original prints with the artist, titled Dat Rosa. These compositions are inspired by collage that the artist created during his residency at the Headlands Center for the Arts. Fazzolari describes the origin of the prints, “Dat Rosa is a body of work inspired by my color responses to fragrances. I experience color responses to scent, a phenomenon called synesthesia.”
