LORAIN, Ohio- As the search continues for a missing man, his parents got a boost of support from the community Wednesday night, including a hug and special gift from a young lady who knows firsthand what they’re going through.
Over 50 people gathered at the Church on the North Coast to support the parents of 26-year-old Aaron Zimmerman and pray for his safe return.
“He’s a beautiful person and a very sweet child,” said Rhonda Zimmerman, Aaron’s mother.
The Lorain man, who suffers from schizophrenia, hasn’t been seen or heard from since November 14 and his mother,Rhonda Zimmerman, is desperate to find him because she says he needs his medication.
“There are times when he hears voices,” said Pastor Angel Arroyo, who has been helping the family and spearheading search efforts.
At the prayer rally, several people spoke to Rhonda and her husband but one in particular touched their hearts.
Michelle Knight was one of three girls who survived being held captive for over a decade at a house on Seymour Ave. in Cleveland before being rescued in May 2013.
“I know it’s hard for them but I know they’ll make it,” said Michelle Knight, “God’s got a plan for everybody.”
Michelle survived unthinkable horrors but said she feels blessed and gave Rhonda a green “positive energy” ring.
Michelle said, “…to put a smile on her face and see her light up just because somebody cares.”
Everyone at the church was praying for a Christmas miracle and promised to keep looking for Aaron.
Pastor Arroyo along with Lorain police, park rangers and volunteers, have been continuously searching the city and Lorain Metroparks woods, paths and river because Aaron likes that area. They’ll be searching again this coming weekend and police are bringing over a half dozen specially-trained dogs.
“We just want answers,” said Arroyo, “We need to find this man.”
