WAUWATOSA (WITI) – Law enforcement officials responded to numerous crashes throughout the freeway system on Monday night, April 14th. One of the biggest pileups occurred just after 10:30 p.m. on Highway 45 near Mayfair Road.

According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, 30 vehicles had to be towed from the scene as a result of the crash. Authorities say there were more than 30 vehicles involved in the accident — however they sustained minor damage and were able to be driven from the scene.

Other vehicles involved, included two semis and two school buses. Officials say one of those school buses was carrying 42 children at the time of the crash.

Authorities no one sustained serious injures as a result of the crash.

Between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to 32 accidents involving property damage and 11 accidents involving personal injury.

Authorities want to remind motorists to drive with caution as roads remain slippery — especially on overpasses.

Racine and Ozaukee county officials reported some spinouts and vehicles going off the road — but no major accidents. Washington and Kenosha county officials said they didn’t have any accident reports to speak of, and a sergeant with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department said they had no reports of icy conditions on the roadways.

In Waukesha County, however, deputies responded to seven accidents involving injury, 15 accidents involving property damage, and 13 calls for vehicles in the ditch.
