LEBANON — In the second installment of school safety grants, 250 Indiana school districts will get money to make their hallways safer.

The money comes from Indiana’s Secured School Safety Grant Program. Schools received a total of $9 million back in November and another $9 million this time around.

In Lebanon, Superintendent Dr. Robert Taylor said he planned to use the nearly $50,000 grant to hire a third school resource officer, in partnership with local law enforcement.

“That has become as high a priority as academic achievement, as quality instruction, as winning basketball games in the state of Indiana. You have to make sure as a Superintendent or as a principal or as a headmaster that you are doing everything you can to make sure your students and staff are safe,” Taylor said.

Schools must match the grant money with their own resources.

Here is a full list, by county, of schools receiving grants.
