KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Thousands of folks will celebrate America’s independence on the Missouri riverfront Saturday.

KC RiverFest in one of the largest pyrotechnic parties in the Midwest. But until the sunsets and the fireworks start, there’s plenty of activities for the whole family. There will be food vendors, children’s bounce houses and beverage stands. Casey Kite Club will also be out along with two music stages.



FBI prepares for terrorist threats

RiverFest organizer say they are working very closely with KCPD, city officials and the Office of Emergency Management to ensure festival attendees are informed and pay extra attention to safety concerns. At this time there are no known threats for Kansas City area or this particular event.

So be sure to bring your lawn chairs, blankets and sunscreen and leave any outside beverages, coolers glass, alcohol, firearms, weapons or your own fireworks at home.

The cost is $5 for adult and free for kids 12 and under. Festivities start at 4 p.m. and fireworks start at dusk.
