LIBERTY, Mo. — Sometimes all you need is a little dance, and Liberty North High School is taking that to heart with a dance class which lasted all day Monday.

“I was super excited because normally I would be in orchestra right now so this also helps us keep beat and stuff,” said senior Samantha Heston.

“I’ve been having a lot of energy bursts throughout the day. So it was a good way of getting rid of the energy,” added fellow senior Bria Rice.

About 750 students put their best foot forward to learn Latin and Swing dancing. The ballroom lesson lasted all day.

Wesley Speer added, “I was just excited to show my moves. It’s a lot of fun

“Going under the arm was really hard for me. Twirling and coming back, it was just really difficult, I just couldn’t understand it,” said Shae Crane of the meringue.

Dance instructor, Paula Daub, started a program called ‘Culture Through Ballroom Dance.’ The classes are free for schools and are available throughout the metro.

The program takes the dance floor into schools to help build confidence and social skills in students.

“They know how to work effectively and respectfully of the opposite gender,” said Daub.
