ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI)- St. Louis is celebrating National Dance Week with a celebration this Saturday, April 23. The event will take place from noon to 5 p.m. at Grand Center, in the heart of the arts and entertainment district, located at Washington Avenue and Grand Boulevard.

Over 50 dance companies will be performing at the event. Companies such as Saint Louis Ballet, Honorary St. Louis Dance Company, The Big Muddy Dance Company, Washington University Dance Company, MADCO, Ashleyliane Dance Company, and many more will be featured.

This morning Kevin was treated to a performance by dancers with the Famous Fresh Dance Studio. These dancers performed a choreographed hip hop routine titled "The Fly Girl Nation" on hoverboards.

National Dance Week St. Louis was founded by Linda Green as a way to encourage more interaction between the St. Louis dance community and the rest of the population. National Dance Week began in 1981 as a grassroots movement by the dance community to raise awareness of dance and increase community exposure.
