ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-Homeowners and businesses may have seen a decrease in basement backups due to the Metropolitan Sewer District’s “Project Clear.” Compared to last spring, basement sewer backups are down sixty-four percent and that’s saved taxpayers $250,000 in flooded basement claims.

MSD has also built a special storage tank in the Coldwater Creek watershed in north St. Louis County to hold storm water runoff. They say the tank holds the equivalent of 5 miles of sewers and handled as much as 10 million gallons of untreated wastewater during April’s storms.
