National shuttler Lee Chong Wei is hoping the birth of his second son will bring luck in qualifying for the Rio Olympics 2016.
The 32-year-old’s wife Wong Mew Choo, safely delivered their baby boy around 4.38pm, at the Gleneagles Hospital, Jalan Ampang, yesterday.
Weighing at 3.96kg, the healthy baby is named Terrance. The couple has a first son, Kingston, who is two years old.
When contacted by Utusan Malaysia, Chon Wei was ecstatic over the well-being of his son and wife, besides hoping lady luck will be on his side from now on.
“I’m happy that Mew Choo and Terrance are well and safe,” said the happy father.
“Mew Choo was in pain and we had to rush her to the hospital today (Thursday). Glad all turned up good.”
Despite that, Chong Wei now has to focus on gaining points in the next Taiwan Open.
He did well to win back-to-back titles in the US and Canada Opens, since making a return from an eight-month ban over a doping violation.
When asked if he will try to win the Taiwan Open for his second son, Chong Wei commented: “I don’t want to put any pressure on myself. I just want to enjoy the game.”
Two years ago, notably, Chong Wei won the Indian Open in April, just after the birth of his first son.
