Hi Members

Really Difficult Picture Call

Minimum pixel dimensions: 3000x4000

Landscape, Portrait, Square; colour

Deadline: Thursday, January 31, 2013; 12:00 GMT

To submit images to Picture Calls in fotoLibra, simply click on the Picture Call megaphone icon below a thumbnail in your Collections, and select the relevant Really Difficult Picture Call picture call from the drop-down menu which appears. Pictures must be marked as Rights Managed, and should not be sent direct to me.

We've called this the Really Difficult Picture Call

a) to attract your attention

b) because it's not truly difficult, it's just complex, eclectic and wide-ranging.

Study it carefully and you will find some gems that are right up your street. And remember descriptions like "TAYLOR, 25" are simply names that will be used in the book. Any model-released 25 year old will do. Model releases are essential for this Picture Call.

Think of your backgrounds — "Fearless Fred" (RDPC0111) would be less impressive if he was shot against a background of a shopping precinct or children's playground.

Additional clarifications are given in italics.

Please incorporate the RDPC codes in your keywords. No spaces, e.g. RDPC0101f.

And a final hint — picture buyers constantly want photographs of PEOPLE, especially school-age people. The more good model-released images you can provide of kids interacting as described here, the more you will sell — and you will be surprised at how profitable this sector of the market is.

Extreme Sports. There are 6 photos labelled a-f. The photos should look as if they’ve been taken in different parts of the world by the teenagers (male and female) involved in the extreme sports. They should vary in style and quality. For example, one of the photos might have the date and time legible. Another might be at an unusual angle. The design should suggest that all the photos have been uploaded to an Internet site or are being published in a magazine and appear under the title: ‘Your extreme photos’. A photo of an imaginary extreme sports hero called Fearless Fred, loosely based on Felix Baumgartner. He should look positve and confident, dressed for some kind of adventure sport. Here is the text about our imaginary hero: Hi! My name is Fearless Fred and I want to help you fulfil your (1). At To The Extreme you don’t just watch extreme sports, you take part in them. Of course, it’s dangerous. But in life we all have to take (2) . Every day, we encounter (3) and look for ways to overcome each new (4) that is put in our path. And if you face this (7) then you could reach the (8) of the extreme sports mountain. I hope you’ll take up this (9) and come To The Extreme! Who knows – maybe you’ll achieve (10) and become an extreme sports star like Fearless Fred.

0201 a-e

A series of 5 shots along a school journey in London that show how people are tracked. Please make sure that we get a real cosmopolitan feel here with a mix of ethnic groups. This will link in with the Listening. The shot that works best in terms of its visual impact should be the main photos, and the other four should be smaller, like thumbnails in a slide-show. Photos 02.01a - 02.01e should be of a similar style and orientation. The purpose of the images is to show 'digital footprints'

RDPC

0201a

A cosmopolitan mix of people on a busy London street near a tube station. At least one person is making a call as they walk. The caller and their phone should be clearly visible.

RDPC

0201b

People out on the street, with someone taking money out of a cash point.

RDPC

0201e

0202b

Head and shoulders photo of a girl from a Latin-American country. Age about 16-17

RDPC

0203

A photo of a teenage boy sending a message on a phone, a smug smile on his face. It needs to be plausible that it’s a weekend, so no school contexts or school uniforms. If possible, the background context should depict a party with teens dancing as the boy with the phone is taking a video of his clasmate dancing. The first option of seeing the boy with his phone will have to clearly depict that he's doing something to embarrass someone else.

RDPC

0204

A photo of a 15-year old girl waiting at a school gate - maybe looking at her watch as the person meeting her is late. OR a photo of a 15-yr-old boy and girl talking in the school library, with the boy sitting in front of a computer.

RDPC

0205

Two teens (about 16), a boy and a girl, seen from the waist up, perhaps sitting at a table. They don’t need to be photographed together. They should be looking away from each other and with confused or pensive looks on their faces. The context on the page is that the teens will be surrounded by various speech bubbles from parents and peers giving strong opinions (often negative) - hence them looking confused/pensive.

RDPC

0207

A small photo of a teen (between 14 and 17) using one of those little trial bicycles in a busy urban setting - the implication is that he is using the bike in an inappropriate setting.

RDPC

0208

Photo of an indistinct figure wearing a hoody with the hood up in front of a computer. The age and sex of the person should be impossible to guess. S/he is a computer hacker. The photo is part of a news story — in newspaper — photo could be indoor or outdoors.
