The world could somehow unite, after all.

During the recently held Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo walk, nearly 20,000 photographers from over a thousand cities around the world gathered together for a day of creativity and fun with a great cause. A walk leader was assigned for every key city who led the photographers through the itinerary of the photo walk.

The Worldwide Photo Walk was presented by KelbyOne, an educational membership community which provides affordable training for Photoshop, Lightroom and Photography. Scott Kelby, the president of KelbyOne, is the editor and publisher of Photoshop User Magazine, Conference Technical Chair for the Photoshop World Conference & Expo, and is the author of some bestselling Photoshop, Lightroom, and photography books.  Also, Canon was the official photo walk sponsor, who gave prizes for the photo walk contests.

There were four contests for the photographers including:

The Walker Photo Contest

One submission for a walker, in which a walk leader would choose for each location. Prize is 1-Year KelbyOne Membership and a chance to win in the main photo contest.  The grand winner of the main photo received a Canon EOS 5D, $250 B&H gift certificate, 1 year Adobe Creative Cloud: All apps, photography roller bag, and 1 year membership to KelbyOne which is an online photography and editing tutorial by Scott Kelby.

People’s Choice

One winner was picked by the participants of World Wide Photo Walk 2016 to receive the People’s Choice Award.

Video Contest

All participants, both walkers and leaders, who submitted a short video, 5 minutes or less, taken during their walk, were qualified for the video category.

Leader Photo Contest

Every walk leader received e a 1-Year KelbyOne Membership as a thank you for hosting the walk. Also, each leader will have the opportunity to submit one of their walk shots into a separate Leader Photo Contest.

In the Philippines, among the participating cities were Intramuros (Manila), Harbour Square/Manila Zoo (Manila), Angono (Rizal), Aurora (Zamboanga del Sur), Gingoog City (Misamis Oriental), Cebu City, and San Carlos City (Negros Occidental). In Lipa City, Batangas, it was Jeremy Mendoza who led the walk group. They have set the Lipa City Cathedral as their meeting place, walked and took shots through the Lipa public market and ended at the Community park. Those who joined took the advantage because they are into the field. “Photographers during the event took different approaches in taking pictures. Some of them are more into street photography, which is an advantage since we’re shooting in downtown, some on portraits, and some on architectural details,” says Jeremy.

Lipa City participants

Not only did the photographers get the chance to show their photography skills and bond with their colleagues with the same passion, but they also did everything for a cause. They have registered for free but they could donate even a single dollar for the benefit of the Springs of Hope Orphanage in Kenya. Through the event, the children of Kenya would be provided with food, shelter, education, and most especially, love and hope.
