Hunt Alternatives brings daring goals, distinctive perspectives, innovative practices, and extraordinary talent to some of the world’s most complex and injurious challenges.    We’re committed to inclusive peace processes, elimination of the demand for illegal purchased sex, women’s highest-level political participation, powerful social movement leadership, and sustainable youth arts. To achieve systemic change in these areas, we convene stakeholders, produce actionable research, advocate in the public policy arena, conduct targeted training, and leverage long-term partnerships.   Demand Abolition, a program of Hunt Alternatives, is committed to eradicating the illegal commercial sex industry in the US—and, by extension, the world—by combating the demand for purchased sex. We’re catalyzing social change to reflect the dignity of all people, insisting that an inherent human right is that no person can be bought or sold. Prostitution (which includes sex trafficking) continues to flourish, degrading the vulnerable adults and children being prostituted, as well as the men who are buying them.   There’s growing evidence that combatting the demand for prostitution reduces sex trafficking and is a critical element of any comprehensive anti-trafficking effort. In 2014, we launched a pilot-based initiative to reduce demand in key cities across the United States by 20 percent in two years. We’re creating evidence-based models of combatting demand for illegal commercial sex that can be replicated in communities across the country. In the first phase, we’re supporting four cities for two years to test and measure community-based approaches to reduce demand. Based on an application process, six more cities will be selected this summer, with a formal launch in October 2014.   Demand Abolition seeks a multi-disciplinary thinker to lead the effort to uncover promising practices to fight the demand for illegal commercial sex in the United States.
