TechSoup has a lot to offer foundations, but the majority of foundations don't know it! Here are seven ways TechSoup is benefiting philanthropy. See what we can do for your foundation! 1. Most TechSoup Products Are Now Open to Nonprofit Foundations In 2012 , IT product donations started to open up to nonprofit foundations. By far the majority of the 90,000 public, private, and independent foundations in the U.S. are nonprofit and now eligible for most of TechSoup's product donations and discounts. You can check your eligibility to find out what your foundation can request. Under the Type of Organization pull-down list, choose Other Purposes and Activities , and then choose your foundation type. 2. Nearly 4,000 Foundations Are Already Using TechSoup Thousands of nonprofit foundations are now using TechSoup for IT product discounts and donations. The savings to them is so substantial that it frees up operating budgets for other things. See How Carnegie Corporation of New York Got Microsoft Donations Through TechSoup . 3. The Top Product Donations That Foundations Choose These are foundations' current favorites: Microsoft Windows 10 Microsoft Office 365 (it's free for the Business Essentials and Enterprise One versions) Microsoft Office 2016 (for PC or Mac) Symantec Norton Small Business Security Suite Adobe Creative Cloud Tableau for data visualization DocuSign NetSuite for online accounting, ERP, and CRM New Dell discounted laptops Each donation program has specific rules about the type of organization that can participate. For example, DocuSign is available to nonprofit foundations with operating budgets under $1 million. 4. TechSoup Product Donations Can Save Foundations 80 to 90 Percent When foundations save on IT acquisition costs, that frees up more grantmaking money. TechSoup has more than 100 product donors and discounters that cover large variety of IT needs — both hardware and software. So it's possible for foundations to cut IT expenses substantially. A large portion of TechSoup products are donated and so have small admin fees. Other products are on a discount basis, and have somewhat higher admin fees. The admin fees help to cover TechSoup's operations costs. 5. Foundations and Their Grantees Can Afford to Have Many of the Same IT Tools Having the same tools means foundations and their grantees can work together better. TechSoup has a number of cloud-based donor partners that offer collaboration platforms to ease communications and data sharing between grantmakers and grantees. 6. Our NGOsource Program Makes International Grantmaking Feasible Grantmaking outside of the U.S. used to be complicated and expensive, but thanks to the NGOsource program, those days are over. NGOsource is a project of the Council on Foundations and TechSoup. It simplifies the task of evaluating whether a non-U.S. organization is the equivalent of a U.S. public charity — a process known as equivalency determination. The process for clearing an NGO to receive a grant is much faster and much less expensive than it used to be — starting at $250 per equivalency determination . 7. TechSoup Works to Empower All of Philanthropy So That Both Foundations and Their Grantees Have the Tools They Need to Do Their Best Work TechSoup's expanded product donations and discounts plus our array of validation solutions provides services for grantmakers and nonprofits.
