So, having just dropped cash on an unopened box mv8800 NOS package, ssd's bought, RAM upgrade, pads, etc, they finally put out info on new MPC Live and MPC X standalone workstations.

So far, have not seen anything that it does that the MV already has built in except for the elastique engine and clip launch/scene launch, like Ableton implements. That is pretty big, but can't see it replacing my mv8800. Maybe synced with it, but not a replacement. 10 years go by from mv8800 launch and Akai is just getting to features already standard with the MV. On the PC or Mac, it does 128 audio tracks, as standalone 8? MV has 8 audio tracks. Phrase pads, like scene launch or phrase launch as the 2016 2.0 software peek showed. MV already does it. Built in synth - MV has that. Multiple good plugin fx - mv has that.

MV has many multisampled instruments available. MV can have a sampler instrument doing native midi and not even using a midi track so it frees up midi tracks for actual outboard gear.

MPC 2.0 has it beat with speed of load times and that Ableton style clip inegration, but yet to see the midi editor as being improved over the MV. More sample RAM and larger hard drive capacity recognition it also leads on, but really comparing features of the two does not give much edge to the new MPC standalone.

Just some interesting notes on how far ahead of its time the MV was.
