I haven't posted on this site for awhile, but I still have a HUGE interest in law enforcement as my career. In fact, I have changed schools. I left my old high school to go on to a vocational school. I joined the law enforcement program, and that has motivated me to do my very best in school. While I was once a D-average student, I am now holding all A's, and ended my first quarter with a 98% in the class. However, we have become public safety to get us more college credits and a chance at summer internships.

Anyways, I had some questions I would like some officers to answer and give their opinions on how competitive I look. I know that the civil service exam usually dictates things, so I simply want a professional opinion on how qualified you all think I am.

Firstly, as I said, I am in a public safety program at a vocational school. We will be graduating with EMS AND EMT certifications, and SHOULD be leaving with an Associates degree of some form, or at least the college credits to knock it out in a few months. Second, I am in the Sea Cadets, and will be making at least PO2 by the time I graduate. On top of this, I am also a police explorer, currently the only in my Post actually pursuing a career in police work.

I am very dedicated to my career choice, and I have decided to take up teaching myself Spanish. I am getting a lot of things for Christmas to help me out, and I already have basic education of it from my old school.

Right now, I am physically capable of passing the police physical exam (minus the push-ups. I don't know why, but I can't do them), but I am a big guy. I have purchased a book from a current police officer filled with exercises and meal ideas, and it is very beneficial to me.

I am going to try and find someone who can help me with push-ups, as those will be my biggest hurdle.

I have not ever used drugs, smoked, or drank, nor do I ever plan on it. I live in a household with some form of use of all three (mostly drinking), and I have learned to hate them all.

Please give me your honest opinions! I know that I have a lot to work on, but I hope that what I am doing right now is putting me on the fast track to employment. Thanks in advance!
