Screen printer Omar Viera used M&R’s new Challenger III D J4 Automatic Screen Printing Press to set a new world record of 2139 T-shirts printed in one hour by a single operator. The event took place on June 28 at FESPA 2013 in London. The result eclipsed the previous record (also held by Mr. Viera) by 230 T-shirts. Other M&R screen printing equipment contributing to the record attempt were the Passport Automatic T-shirt Unloader and Fusion electric conveyor dryer.

Rich Hoffman, M&R’s CEO, said, “In 2010, Omar proved he was an elite screen printer. And we knew we had a phenomenal automatic screen printing press in the concept Challenger III D J4. But we also knew everything would have to go perfectly for Omar to set a new world record in London—much less to shatter the old record the way he did today. However, even if you have all the elements necessary for success, an otherwise minor glitch can leave you short of your goal. To borrow a phrase from the sports world, ‘It’s why they play the game.’ Fortunately, it all fell into place.”

Hoffman went on to thank Jon Weiss, founder and CEO of the New Buffalo Shirt Factory, for making it possible for Omar to compete; Gildan for providing high-quality T-shirts; Wilflex for providing exceptional screen printing ink; Mitsubishi for their superior servo drives and exceptional support; the people at M&R behind the design and manufacture of the new Challenger III D J4 automatic textile press; the outstanding M&R support staff at FESPA 2013; and especially Omar for another amazing performance.
