Wondered if anybody else has ran into this issue with their Audio 10 (MF-2910/made by Becker) CD player which I have in my 2001 SLK230:
The unit struggles with original CDs nowadays and only works sometimes after heating them up (looks strange, me driving and holding the CD in front of the heater outlets!). Usually, to start with the units rejects the CD with the 'ERROR' code and spits the disc back out.
I have tried cleaning the lens with a special CD with 2 pads on it and isopropyl alcohol, but to no avail.
I've tested the unit with 6 CDs from my collection and they will not play on the first or second attempts. By contrast, the same 6 CD set play first time in my wife's A3 CD player and our home Hi-Fi CD player.
Has anybody else rang into this issue?
I had a look across this forum earlier and came across the following specialist car audio repairers:

I thought I would ask around first before I contact any of these companies.
I do a long journey to work each day from St. Albans to Cambridge (100 miles return) and being able to listen to CD music is important to me.
