I have a few questions about setting up new Comcast internet service. I will be moving at the end of the month and would like to sign up for Comcast internet service in my new home. I have already verified that service is available at the address. I am currently living with my parents and am a secondary user on my dad's Comcast account.

1. When I create my new account, is it possible to transfer my existing Comcast user name/email address from my dad's account to the new account. Assuming its possible, what do I/my dad need to do to make it happen?

2. For the self install option, is it possible to have the install kit shipped to my current address instead of the service address so that I can get service hooked up immediately when I move rather than wait several days for shipping? Or can I pick up the install kit at the local Comcast office a few days ahead of time?

3. I am not yet set on a specific plan. I have already checked and know that as a new customer in my market I am eligible for 12 month promo rates on most internet packages. If I decide after a few months that I want a faster or slower plan, will I be eligible to get the new customer promo rate on the new package for the remainder of my first 12 months, or would I have to pay full price?

4. I will be using my own modem and router rather than renting from Comcast. The model I bought is the Netgear C6300 AC1750 Modem/Router combo. The preinstalled firmware version is 1.02.21 but I have read that many Comcast customers have had connectivity issues with this firmware. There is a new firmware version available that supposedly fixes the problem, 2.01.14, but it is not user upgradable. The Netgear support site says that the update must be pushed from the ISP. Does Comcast have the ability to push this update as Netgear states, and would they given that its my modem and not Comcast's? If so does this happen automatically when I activate it or does it require a call to customer service?
