Home Tour--Micro Farm Project at Private Residence--Near Sweetwater and the 51

December 15, 2013 from 2pm to 3:30pm

The Micro Farm Project is a beautiful place where veggies, fruit, and herbs grow and small livestock animals provide fun and food. A tiny farm on an urban lot, The Micro Farm Project is the Spencer family's ongoing experiment in becoming as self-sufficient as possible, naturally and sustainably. The property sits on less than 1/3 of an acre, and yet it is home to 5 gardens (including a front-yard vegetable garden,) chickens, Coturnix quail, heritage turkeys, dairy goats, a pet rabbit and even some sheep! The Spencers invite you to see how the animals are integrated with the compost and garden systems in a regenerative cycle, and how laundry-to-landscape and condensation water collection are reducing their dependence on city services.  The family will give a guided tour and will be available to answer any questions that you may have about growing food or raising livestock in the city. This is a private residence. Address will be emailed to attendees. How to Register: Sign in and click "will attend" or email classes@vpaaz.org. Please note in email or comments if you will be bringing other people.Tour is $10 or ATTEND WITH A FRIEND: 2 for $15. Children ages 14 and under are free but must be accompanied by an adult.  Class fee is payable at the door by cash or check made out to Valley Permaculture Alliance. See More
