The Wall Street Journal reports that Evelyn Stevens, who holds the women’s world hour record, will retire from professional cycling at the end of 2016.

The 33-year-old American has had a successful seven-year career after leaving a Wall Street job to pursue cycling full-time. She won the 2012 Flèche Wallonne, four national time trial titles, and five stages of the Giro Rosa, including three in the 2016 edition, which was won by her Boels – Dolmans teammate Megan Guarnier.
Stevens will likely be remembered best for her impressive hour record ride in late February at the 7-Eleven Velodrome in Colorado Springs. She rode an impressive 47.980km, a mark that will likely stand some time.
Most recently, she competed in the Rio Olympics, where she was 12th in the road race and 10th in the time trial.
