We don't see any compelling reason to update to later version since these issues don't seem to be addressed in newer versions.

You should upgrade since there are security fixes in each version. Note that, officially 24.* isn't even supported.

For some reason when we use a search engine like STARTPAGE.COM (which is a secure https: address), browser refuses to RELOAD using the BACK BUTTON

Redirect your complaints to Startpage: they are the ones who have chosen to make their search function based on a POST request rather than a GET request.

Get rid of the NANNY FACTOR in what PDF reader or VIDEO Viewer we can use. Please LET US DECIDE if we are willing to risk using OLDER software

Sorry, the risk of using vulnerable software is too great and regardless of what you consider it, it will be there. And to prevent this behaviour, set extensions.blocklist.enabled to false in about:config.

Provide a way to ALWAYS OPEN A NEW WINDOW so we don't have to use TABS if we don't like them.

You can use the right click context menu for this.

Can you please make it so that when we hover the mouse over an URL-LINK, there is a pop-up that shows the full URL address?

Tools > Status bar options > Links frame > Show links in: {set the value to Pop-up}

Get rid of software add-ons that do not allow us to OPT OUT of AUTOMATIC UPDATES. This is a security hazard.

(and apparently, running old versions of software is not. )

Get rid of the captcha Confirmation Image!

You have ZERO knowledge about how voluminous the problem of forum spam is.

Can you make the keyboard's RETURN KEY provide an "OK" in order to change settings?

Up here it already is so.

Is there a way to shorten the URL-address bar, to accommodate other things in that browser real estate? When we remove things from the toolbar, it just lengthens the URL bar.

The browser URL bar is actually a control that resizes itself automatically when other things are put in the navigation bar.

WE LOVE PALE MOON AND WANT TO IRON OUT THESE PROBLEMS. If some of these problems are setting-dependent, please advise.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME & EFFORT, AND THANK YOU FOR A GREAT BROWSER EXCEPT FOR THE ABOVE PROBLEMS.

Off-topic:
Make rude, nonsensical and offensive comments, and then end with a general positive note, a (fake) human touch in the expectation that people will not offended is a clever strategy, only that it doesn't work in some cases (like this one).
(I wonder how Moonchild and Matt deal with this. They are on the receiving end of these things every day.)
