I've just read of a car being disabled by mice, because they ate the wiring loom. It turns out that manufacturers are making the insulation from soy oil instead of traditional PVC, so now their wires are tasty to rodents!
More info HERE, but it gets worse.
Ford have developed soy based car seat foam - and we know how mice like upholstery foam.
Mercedes-Benz cars made between 1991 to 1995 started to use a "bio-degradable wiring harness" ! No action by rodents was necessary just heat and time and the insulation on the wiring would start to deteriorate, crack, fall off and cause infinite combinations of wiring shorts.
JLR is rumoured to be making a composte panel from flax and cashew nut oil...MMMMmmm Tasty !
Not content with rusting, we now have to contend with them being eaten!
