Good Evening,

As a Newbie who has not 'brewed' for 30 years, and who last used kits as a teenager, I have discovered the Forum very recently.

Got to say that I have been pretty 'star-struck' not only by the amount of information available here, but by the advance in home-brewing technology/equipment available.

In no way do I want to 'run before I can walk', nor pretend that I know any more than I do (very little), but I would like to acquire (slowly if necessary) the right equipment, the first time around, before I get started. Rather this than keep upgrading unnecessarily.

Over the last couple of weeks, I have read a couple of books - as recommended by Forum members here, and have a loose understanding of options available. I have also read many of the brilliant posts here. Very informative.

Needless to say, I am tempted to get straight into AG brewing. Again, not because I am so presumptuous to think that I know what I'm doing, but because I see this as the 'end-game', and would like to cut out the middle-man in terms of buying equipment.

Space is very limited, as I live in a very small city-centre apartment, with a very stroppy wife, and space-consuming children.

With that in mind, I was wondering what people thought about a Braumeister. Is this cheating? Do I need to 'cut my teeth' on a more 'conventional' system before being let loose on such a gadget?

Further, I gather that fermentation temperature control (or lack of it) seems to be a major factor in the production of a good beer. Should I be making a fermentation fridge? Is it that crucial? If so, what size? To contain what kind of vessel? Is conical very much better than otherwise? Is a €900 Stainless Steel vessel 90 times better than a €10 plastic bucket?

What about storage/dispensing systems?

Sorry for all of the questions at once! Any advice very gratefully received. Also, should you think - forget all that stuff, go away and learn the 'Newbie way', then please fell free to tell me!
