Fort Bend ISD recently named new leaders at several campuses for the coming school year.

Among the new high school principals are: Leonard Brogan, Ridge Point High School; Thomas Graham, Willowridge High School; Alfred Holland, Marshall High School; and Deidra Lyons-Lewis, Elkins High School.

Principals named at the middle school level are: Joseph Chandler, Crockett Middle School; Jessica McMullen, First Colony Middle School; and Brian Shillingburg, Bowie Middle School.

At the elementary level, Alena McClanahan is the new principal at Lakeview Elementary School. Sonya Smith-Watson is the principal at Cornerstone Elementary School. Constance Hawkins is the assistant principal for the EDGE Program at Briargate Elementary School.

Stephanie Houston has been named the principal of Ridgemont Elementary.



LEONARD BROGAN

Leonard Brogan, principal at Ridge Point High School, most recently served as principal at Sugar Land Middle School, a position he has held for the past three years. Brogan joined FBISD in 1998 and has served as a middle school history teacher, a high school social studies teacher and department chair, and as an assistant principal and associate principal at the high school level. A former Campus Teacher of the Year at Quail Valley Middle School and Girls Golf Coach, Brogan holds a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston, and a Bachelor’s degree in Food Marketing from St. Joseph’s University.



THOMAS GRAHAM

Thomas Graham, principal at Willowridge High School, joined Fort Bend ISD in 2007 as an assistant principal at Elkins High School. He also worked as an associate principal at Travis High School before being named principal at Crockett Middle School, where he served for the past five years. Prior to joining the District, Graham served as an assistant principal and teacher in Alief ISD. A former FBISD Principal of the Year, Graham received a Master’s degree in Education and Supervision from the University of Houston, and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Tennessee State University.

Alfred Holland, principal at Marshall High School, is returning to Marshall High School after serving as principal at Bowie Middle School and previously at Jordan Elementary School. During his earlier years at Marshall, he served as an assistant principal and as the associate principal. He has also served as an elementary and middle school teacher for FBISD and Louisiana schools. A former Hunters Glen Elementary School Campus Teacher of the Year, Holland holds a Master’s degree in Administration and Supervision and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Southern University.



DIEDRA LYONS-LEWIS

Deidra Lyons-Lewis, principal at Elkins High School, most recently served as principal at Hodges Bend Middle School. She has also held positions as associate principal at Willowridge High School; associate principal, assistant principal, guidance counselor and Special Education teacher at Kempner High School; and as director of staffing and secondary staffing coordinator for FBISD’s Human Resources Department. A former FBISD Principal of the Year, Lyons-Lewis has a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Saint Thomas, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Grambling State University.

JOSEPH CHANDLER

Joseph Chandler, principal at Crockett Middle School, has more than 20 years of experience in education and is a fluent Spanish-speaker. He most recently served as principal of Willowridge High School, a position he held for the past three years. Prior to that, Chandler was principal of Garcia Middle School. He has also served as a high school associate principal, assistant principal and teacher. Chandler received his Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Houston, and his Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from St. Meinrad College.

JESSICA McMULLEN

Jessica McMullen, principal at First Colony Middle School, joined FBISD in 2014 as the principal of Schiff Elementary School. Prior to joining the District, she served as a principal, assistant principal, team leader/department chair, and teacher for Alvin and Hudson Independent School Districts. She has earned numerous awards, including Alvin ISD Principal of the Year. She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Science degree with Teaching Certification from Stephen F. Austin State University.

Brian Shillingburg brings 12 years of experience in education to FBISD. Most recently, he has served four years in middle school as assistant principal in Spring Branch ISD. Prior to that, he was an instructional specialist in Spring ISD. Shillingburg began his career as a kindergarten teacher and also taught fourth-grade. He earned his Bachelor of Science in education at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and his Master’s in School Administration at Sam Houston State University.

JESSICA McCLANAH

Alena McClanahan has 22 years of experience working in Fort Bend ISD and most recently served as assistant principal at Lakeview Elementary School. Prior to that, she served as assistant principal at Cornerstone Elementary and Quail Valley Elementary School. She has also worked as an elementary math facilitator, math specialist and math teacher. She obtained her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a specialization in math, from the University of Houston, and is currently completing her Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership.

SMITH WATSON

An educator of 22 years, Sonya Smith-Watson recently served as assistant principal at Cornerstone Elementary, a position she held for the past two years. Prior to joining Cornerstone, she served as assistant principal at Briargate and Holley Elementary Schools. She has additionally held positions as a math curriculum manager, math specialist, teacher and campus administrator for area school districts. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Alabama A&M University, her Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Prairie View A&M University, and is currently pursuing her Doctorate degree in Education.

CONSTANCE HAWKINS

Constance Hawkins joins Fort Bend ISD as a former educator of Pearland Independent School District. She has more than 10 years of experience in education, having served as a third-grade reading and math teacher, kindergarten teacher and team leader. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Early Childhood from the University of Houston, is an ESL-certified educator, and holds a Master’s degree in Instructional Leadership Development.

STEPHANIE HOUSTON

Stephanie Houston has 22 years of educational experience, most recently as the principal of Townewest Elementary for the past eight years. Prior to that, she served in Alief ISD as an elementary teacher, math specialist, and assistant principal. Ms. Houston spends much of her time developing teachers through professional development sessions in the areas of reading, writing and math. Houston earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Texas Southern University and her Master’s Degree at the University of Houston-Victoria. She is currently working on her Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
